Rajiv Gandhi Mission for Watershed Management Project
The Rajiv Gandhi Mission for Watershed Management is an ambitious Programme of the Government of M.P. It is for the sustainable development of the area on the watershed basis, attempted to conserve natural resources, like land and water, and to improve the economic conditions of the villagers by enhancing their employment opportunities in their village.
This Programme has the innovated approach of the watershed management through community participation. At present, this Programme is being implemented in all the 313 blocks of Madhya Pradesh in an area of about 3.2 million hectares.
Under the aegis of the District Panchayat, SJKS launched a training programme for the women in the SHGs of the Bilhera village, Khireti Gram Panchayat, Amarwara block in 2010 -11. The aim was to empower the rural women under SC, ST and BPL group and make them active in the sustainable development through the Rajiv Gandhi Mission for Watershed Management.
