Shabana Azami started working in the field of social service and social welfare since 1998. Worked with women from underprivileged communities at village level and conducted awareness programmes, and engaged in self-employment training and violence against women and exploitation as well as social issues for their livelihood. She conducted the study on the life of Bharia, the tribal community in Patalkot, Chhindwara. She organized trainings tribal adolescent girls and boys on reproductive health and gender equality. She was actively involved on the issue of water, forest and land of marginalized community in 2002-05. She was State Coordinator and then National Executive Member in INSAF.
In 2006, she founded Satyakam Jan Kalyan Samiti (SJKS). She has contributed in various roles for SJKS. She organized campaigns and workshops and conducted various projects, which includes: Model Cluster Meena Room Training, Health rights and entitlements of socially excluded people especially women and children as per the guidelines of NRHM (PACS programme), BTAP Abhiyan, Responsible Parenthood Campaign under PACS project with NCDHR, MNREGA Abhiyaan (Employment Day) and Social Audit, .
She has also successfully conducted following projects: Center of Excellence Skill Development, Equality Saathi Program, Internet Saathi Project, Digital Livelihood, Maternal Health Entitlement Campaign, Advocacy for Community based monitoring under Inclusive Reproductive Health Rights, Monitoring Yes Foundation’s Jal Suraksha Project.
